Books

In preparing texts for book printing, designers need to consider a number of typometric elements, from something as big as page formats to something as small as ligatures. This includes text appearance (typeface, line spacing, tracking, etc.), page layout (indentations, columns, grid, images and illustrations, etc.), and document organisation (pagination, running headers, bleed, etc.). Implementing all these aspects with professional care is necessary to create a layout that works to capture and appeal to readers while also communicating content effectively. E-books

E-book formats (such as EPUB and MOBI) require special preparation of texts. E-books do not have a fixed, predetermined layout, as readers can change the e-book’s typeface, font size, and line height at any time. This means that e-book texts need to be set up in a way that allows them to accommodate different settings as flexibly as possible. Graphics and images need to be compatible with a wide range of devices (e-book readers, tablets, phones, …), and e-books offer options that are not available in print, such as hyperlinks. Whether for self-publishing or distribution via a publisher, we design your text as a fully functional e-book ready to be downloaded and enjoyed.

Templates

Recurrent publications in print and on the web (magazines, academic journals, quarterly or annual reports, newsletters, etc.) require a unified design and text layout. We design layout templates for your publication (based on your corporate design, if applicable) that can be adapted to the needs of future publications, ensuring that your image remains recognisable and professional.

Check first, print later

For texts that are set to be printed, a final check of the printing document is crucial. In proofing, we make sure that everything is in its right place. This includes spacing, line and page breaks, leading, staircase effects, contour settings, margin aligments, ligatures, numeral styles, and more. We mark all necessary changes or implement them directly for you.

Data graphics

We design charts and similar graphics for displaying statistics and other information, as part of a larger layout or separately for use with your existing layout, for reports, presentation slides, information campaigns, etc.
